Last December, Olympic Team USA softball players Ali Aguilar and Janie Reed ran a softball defensive clinic and testimony sharing time hosted by New Hope Community Development Corporation. Below is their report on what happened during this event.
The outreach was divided into 2 sessions. The first was a fitness/softball clinic skills session early in the morning followed by a devotion. Then later in the morning families were invited to a Q and A autograph/picture session which was in the late morning held at New Hope Community Church. It was here we got more time for the athletes to share their testimony of how Jesus changed their lives and how He plays a central role in their softball and conduct during competition.
This year we were able to double our attendance from last year. We had 25 athletes participate. These athletes came from all around the Sacramento region as far as Nevada County, Folsom, Roseville, and Auburn. Both Ali Aguilar and Janie Reed played for Team USA and were on the team that helped qualify USA for the Olympics that won the 2018 world championship. They again are on team USA this year and are anticipate to be selected for the Olympic team come fall of 2019. Both have indicated they would like to return for another session.
Thank you New Hope Community Development Corporation for helping athletes who follow Christ encourage others to do the same!
